Valentines romance is candlelight, an expensive dinner and a pretty fabulous statement present. This is generally what most Valentine’s celebrations conjure up for star struck lovers wooing to impress their partners. But this year, why not try something daringly different? So, true to the Taste Safari Style, I bring you a menu for a stunning, decadent Valentines Picnic.
Over the last couple of years, my Valentines celebrations have become increasingly more relaxed and certainly more about organising a more special, personalised affair. This picnic spread is one of my favourite ways to spend Valentines, so just plan yourself a day in advance, invest in some pretty baskets and if you don’t feel like travelling outside of your home , simply set up a surprise in a private corner of your garden….
Picnics are meant to be fun, easy to assemble and certainly not a huge stress inducing palaver. The Taste Safari menu is relaxed and keeping in mind, the food needs to be easily transported, these recipes are simple to whip up and keep well. I do, however, believe in a little bit of indulgence, so deck out with your favourite champagne flutes and pretty crockery. Somehow, the idea of plastic plates simply doesn’t sit right with such a glorious menu, so plan it with all the love you can…
Don’t forget to add personal touches such as small hidden love notes, placed discreetly for your partner to find or your present placed sweetly amongst your picnic spread. This is loving, my way, the sharing of good food and the twinkle of glasses toasting to a lifetime of special memories. Go on, dare to be different this year!
