My fridge is bursting with little home made, artisan foods that I collect wherever I travel. That, in general means, anywhere that might be selling home-made produce…whether it’s at a fair, or at little off the beaten track restaurants that sell little jars of produce..and what I miss most about Europe is the pretty farm shops that I would discover down hidden country lanes, that always had some wonderful home-made creations to sell. These, amongst pates and cheeses are what constantly complete for space as they are the most useful ingredients to have for a sharing platter.
Creamy cheese!
For the breakfast platter, I wanted to add a bit of a softer creamy cheese to go with the sausages in particular, so I picked a lovely cream cheese that had a sun-dried tomato filling. Go for any cheese that you like, but a creamy textured cheese is ideal for spreading on a bit of sausage.
Pickles!
I love pickles – any type ! But for this farmhouse style platter, I’ve gone for some lovely crunchy gherkins that are going to add just the right tang to all those lovely flavours.
Condiments
Ketchup and mustard are an absolute must on this platter – if you want to add your favourite condiments, anything will go – for HP Brown sauce to Mayonnaise to a Sweet Chilli Relish!
Sausages!
I have some mighty meaty sausages going on here. These are a lovely Bratwurst White sausage with herbs that I love, but the idea is to go with your absolute favourite! Sometimes I love using lamb sausages when it’s more of a brunch get together – so just go with the flow on this!
